Combination Play - Improving 1-2 Combinations
This drill focuses on improving 1-2 combination play. Coaches can focus on short and long 1-2's and improve movement off the ball.

Soccer Drill Info:
This is for ages U10, U12, U14, U16, U17 and up. Run this soccer drill with at least 6 players but no more than 8. This soccer drill should last approximately 20 minutes on a small field. Make sure you have the following equipment: cones, .

Setup:
Set up a grid that is approximately 20 X 25 yards. Set one player on three of the corner cones and a small line on the 4th cone. It is the begining of this line that will start with the ball. Only 1 ball will be used in the begining.

Instructions:
Player A should pass a long ball to Player B, who lays the ball off to player A. After making the pass, Player B will spin out around his cone and receive a ball from Player A on the ofher side of the cone. Player B then plays the ball long to Player C and the drill repeats.

Variations:
* Run the drill with 2 balls. Start the drill with player A and C at the same time.
* Change the direction of the play.

Coaching Points:
* Players should play in 1 touch with the proper pace and accuracy on each pass.
* Players should be thinking ahead of the play and be ready to move fast.
* Players should communicate verbally, by hand motions, or eye contact.
